David Crockett crashed the party on Friday night at Happy Valley, defeating the Warriors 70-54.
Before the game the 1974 state champions were honored with rings and jerseys to celebrate the 40th anniversary.
“I know it was an emotional night for them having the state championship team here,” David Crockett head coach John Good said. “The ceremony was great to see and the crowd was good. I thought both teams just played really hard.”
Crockett was led by a pair of sophomores, Dustin Day and Patrick Good, who scored 22 and 21 points respectively. Day carried his team in the fourth quarter, scoring eight points — just as many as Happy Valley in the final period.
“That is a really good basketball team over there and I was tickled with our effort,” said Warriors head coach Chuck Babb. “There was just a couple of areas that we didn’t execute well.”
