The weather was downright cold at Orr Field on Friday night. However, that didn’t stop a red-hot Cloudland football team from staying on a winning roll.
Colby Birchfield and Austin Whitehead recorded three rushing touchdowns apiece as the ’Landers, who are ranked No. 2 in the AP poll for 1-A, rolled to a 52-12 victory on senior night over Mountain East Conference foe Hancock County to move to 9-0.
“I think we did a good job,” Cloudland head coach Brock Pittman said. “It’s too easy to look ahead, but I don’t think we did. Up front, we did a great job. They did a good job up front defensively trying to stop us, but our guys executed. On defense, our guys have been consistently good. It is nice to be sitting at 9-0. No one thought we would be sitting at 9-0 right now, but we did. It is hard to do that.”
