ock out late with a victory on Monday night inside of Sonny Smith Gymnasium. Playing 94 feet the entire way, the Highlanders earned a hard-fought 68-54 win over Volunteer to even their record at 2-2.
Cloudland’s head coach Gary Harrison thought his kids gave maximum effort, but the play was slopping at times on both ends.
“We’re trying to adjust considering we’ve practiced only four times with four of our five starters and didn’t get a summer with them,” Harrison said. “There’s going to be some growing pains, but I’m proud of our effort. Volunteer had some very good players, so we kept adjusting to certain matchups. Our defense is ahead of offense right now and that showed tonight. I’m proud of everybody that stepped on floor in whatever role they played tonight.”
