Highway 19E wreck claims life of mother

A crash that tragically took the lives of two young children more than a week ago on Highway 19E has claimed the life of their mother.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Spokesperson Dalya Qualls confirmed that Katrina Nye died at Johnson City Medical Center on Friday at about 1p.m.

Nye was driving a green Ford Taurus on Thursday, Oct. 18, southbound on Highway 19E when the vehicle crossed the median in the Valley Forge community and struck a northbound maroon mini-van.

The woman’s children, 2-year-old Dalton Moffitt and 7-year-old Jonathan Nye, died the night of the crash.
