Hinkle receives George S. Brown Scholarship

JOHNSON CITY — East Tennessee State University has announced Meghan Felker Hinkle of Johnson City as the recipient of a $1,000 George S. Brown Scholarship for the 2012-2013 academic year.

The scholarship, offered to residents of Carter County, was established by Criminal Court Judge Lynn Brown and Dr. Joellen Edwards in memory of Brown’s father, George Brown, a World War II veteran who owned and operated a general store in Carter County for 49 years and encouraged local young people to further their education at ETSU.
