The Elizabethton Historic Zoning Commission will host a Historic District Open House to share information about the incentives and benefits that are a part of owning a property in the district.
The open house will be held on Monday, July 22, from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Bonnie Kate Theater and Cafe.
Director of Planning and Development Jon Hartman said the open house was going to be an informative session for property owners to gain a better understanding of what it means to be part of the historic district.
“We are not the big bad wolf that people think we are,” Hartman said. “We hear all the time that people don’t want to be a part of the historic district because it will tell them what to do with their property. As long as it is close to original and they don’t tear it down, that is all we ask. We hope the community comes out to the open house to learn more about the historic district.”
