A break in the weather allowed for some outdoor sports on Wednesday afternoon and Milligan College took full advantage of its first home game in 41 days with a softball doubleheader sweep of Montreat College.
The Lady Buffaloes (4-4 Appalachian Athletic Conference, 5-14 overall) rode home runs from junior first baseman Catherine McGinnis and senior outfielder Abby Hughes to a 5-3 win in the opener, and junior left fielder Krista Lambdin went yard in the nightcap of a 6-4 victory.
“We have a lot of power in our lineup,” stated Lady Buffs head coach Wes Holly. “Actually, we can send seven players to the plate that can go yard. It’s just a matter of getting them going. We have been a little inconsistent and that’s indicative of our record.
“We have actually been playing pretty good, but we have a bad inning here or there and it hurts us.”
