Editor:
I would like to take time to express my sympathy to Mr. Charles Robinson's family. I worked for Charlie for a number of years in the mailroom, composing and classified departments at the Elizabethton STAR. When my mother called me on Wednesday morning to tell me of his death, I was so heartbroken and shocked at the loss of a tremendous man. He was a devoted husband and father who adored his family. Not only was Charlie my boss, but he was a dear friend to me. When I was going through my divorce before leaving the STAR, Charlie offered words of wisdom and gave me a shoulder to cry on if I needed it. He told me I had friends at the STAR and to let them help me through this terrible time in my life. The STAR family, as we so often called it, looked out for its own. When I moved away and came in to visit my friends and former co-workers at the STAR, he always managed to come by and say hello. When he would see you in town at Wal-Mart or at the grocery store, he always acknowledged you. Charlie was an inspiration to us all. He will be missed. I know there will always be a void at the newspaper without Charlie there, but a part of him will always remain in our hearts and his spirit will live on in us all.
To the Robinson Family, you are in my thoughts and prayers daily. Thank you for sharing Charlie with us. May God Bless you and help you through this difficult time.
With Lots of Love,
