HV athlete Morefield recovering from heart surgery

Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan and Gaius Julias Caesar are at the top when naming the elite of some all-time great warriors.
But none of the above can top the heart and fight that one “Warrior” standout athlete has displayed while undergoing open heart surgery on Wednesday at Vanderbilt.
Justin Morefield is currently recovering in Nashville with the hopes of returning home sometime after Sunday.
Morefield posted a 2-0 record for Happy Valley’s varsity baseball team as a freshman pitcher in 2013. It was quite an accomplishment for Justin, who was a member of the 2010 Elizabethton Aces All-Star team that won the 12-year-old state championship and made it to the Southeast Region in Ocala, Fla.
Morefield was resting comfortably when I contacted his parents by phone on Friday night. His father, Shad touched on what led to Justin’s surgery.
