Johnson County was 1:37 from sailing into the regional tournament for the first time in 13 years. What happed down the stretch was a “Titantic ending.”
Shalee Perry’s five-foot bank shot with :01 remaining sank the Lady Longhorns 43-42. Happy Valley survived and was slated to play top seed Unicoi County Saturday night.
The Lady Longhorns’ only other lead was 2-0 to start the game. Coach Larry Abel was happy with the win against a Johnson County team that came into the tournament playing its best basketball of the season.
