A packed house was on hand at Happy Valley Middle School on Monday to watch the Junior Warriors lock “Horns” with Johnson County. And both varsity games weren’t decided until the final minute.
The Happy Valley boys held on for a 42-41 win, handing the Longhorns their first loss on the season. The Lady Longhorns evened the score with a hard fought 37-33 victory.

It was a ping pong game like performance in the fourth quarter between the Warriors and Longhorns.
“It was the typical type of game you expect to have from Johnson County,” said HV coach Rik Anderson. “I thought it was 24 minutes of pure effort from both teams. I thought each team played well and played hard. We just happened to make one more play than they did down the stretch to pull out a win.”

Happy Valley’s Kaitlyn Roberts and Johnson County’s Courtney Brooks put on quite a show in the second contest. The Longhorns would carve out a four-point win but had to come from behind to do so.
