HV wrestlers staying the course
By Rick Sheek
Happy Valley’s wrestling program may be on shaky ground, but the Warriors are still battling with state tournament berths on the line.
Timothy Morris, a junior, is the second seed at 120 pounds for the Region 1 Wrestling Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Viking Hall in Bristol. Morris (12-5) didn’t make the state a year ago when he was saddled with an illness, but did as a freshman.
“He’s grown a lot this year,” Happy Valley coach Joe Carter said on Wednesday night. “He started the year and he was having problems with being over-aggressive. He was doing the wrong thing and giving points away.
“Now he’s learning to wrestle within himself. He’s very talented. If he doesn’t give points away he’s a very tough wrestler.”
