Injuries Slow Down EHS, Cloudland girls teams

By

The injury bug has bitten girls’ basketball in Carter County in a big way this season. Elizabethton and Cloudland are its latest victims.

The dreaded news came for the Lady Cyclones on Monday when they learned the fate of their star point guard.

Morgan Depew tore her ACL against Happy Valley on Friday and will miss the remainder of the season. The Lady Cyclones lost Caley Hodge at the start the year to a broken leg and senior Lauren McCurry has been sidelined since Christmas with a stress fracture and isn’t expected to return.

“I’m killed for the kids and I’m killed for Morgan,” said Elizabethton’s head coach Len Dugger. “It’s a hard pill to swallow.”

Depew led the team in scoring, assists and steals but you can’t find a stat for her greatest contribution.
