Jackie and Dawn Peters share images of history long past in new book

Many never-before-seen photographs from Carter County’s past will be revealed Monday with the release of a new book.

Below is a view of the business district of the village of Hampton in the early 1920s.

This past winter, Carter County natives Jackie and Dawn Trivette Peters collected hundreds of pictures from local residents for the simply titled “Carter County,” the latest in the popular Images of America series from Charleston, S.C.- based Arcadia Publishing.

The book, to be released Monday, features images of how Carter Countians used to live and work.

“We had a lot of fun putting this together,” Dawn Peters said.
