Johnson County had a full house inside of Paul H. McEwen Stadium, but it couldn’t trump Sullivan North’s four of a kind and ace in the hole.
The sixth-ranked Golden Raiders piled up 430 yards rushing in their 36-22 win over the Longhorns. Five running backs combined to account for the total led by Jacob Jasper’s 201 yards.
Not only did the loss spoil Johnson County’s homecoming, but it probably shattered the Longhorns’ hopes of making the playoffs. Head coach Mike Atwood felt like his team was in for a long night if they didn’t shut down North’s running game. He said that North did everything he and the ’Horns thought they would try and do.
