Hampton’s middle school basketball team poured on the steam when it counted.
Trailing most of the first three quarters, the Junior Bulldogs rallied for a 37-33 Little Watauga Conference victory on Monday night over visiting Happy Valley.
“We just kept playing, kept taking good shots and stayed with our game plan trying in win at their second-chance opportunites,” Hampton coach Dewayne Humphrey said. “We were trying to play solid defense. In big games like this, defense wins it — being able to get stops when you need them, putting together a couple of stops at a time and rebounding the basketball.”
