Hampton Elementary turned Happy Valley Middle School’s eighth-grade night into a celebration of the three-point shot. The Junior Bulldogs got off the bus shooting 3-balls in a 41-27 contest on Monday evening.
Treys from Dru Owens, Jared Andrews and Jayden Livingston gave Hampton a 9-0 lead as HVMS guard Eli Reece had the only six points of the half for the Junior Warriors.
“I hate to say that we live by the three, but we seem to shoot a lot of them,” said Jr. Bulldogs coach Dewayne Humphrey. “When they go in it’s great, but on night’s when they don’t go in we have to be able to penetrate and get to the bucket. We came out and shot the ball well from three-point range tonight.”

Let’s hear it for the girls. The Lady Jr. Warriors got their second win of the season with a solid defensive effort and great rebounding from post Tianna Long, who took down 10 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass.
Hampton led 6-5 after one period and held a slim 12-11 advantage at the half with Kinzey Hill contributing a pair of first half treys. Stephanie Campbell also dropped a 3-ball on the Lady Warriors in the first half, but free-throw shooting kept HVMS in this one.
