A game-high 15 points from T.A. Dugger point guard Kalen Clark was not enough on Thursday for the Junior Cyclones to avoid a 40-37 defeat at the hands of John Sevier in a Middle Eight Conference clash.
A two-point basket by Eric Wilson tied the score at 34-34 late in the fourth period, but a six-point run by the Warriors was enough to earn a hard-fought win. Wilson finished with 11 points on the night, including a 3-pointer.
“That was a situation where we had to put pressure on and they got a few run-outs,” said Jr. Cyclones coach Marshall Hardy when asked about Sevier’s late run. “Our guys have nothing to be ashamed about. They played extremely hard; it was just one of those games. They put themselves in position to be successful.”
