KINGSPORT — T.A. Dugger’s basketball team didn’t waste any time taking care of the challenge at hand.
The Junior Cyclones raced to a 17-0 lead, and never let up in pounding Rogersville 53-24 on Monday night in the TMSAA East Tennessee Area 1 AAA tournament at John Sevier.
“Those guys, they all played real well tonight,” Dugger coach Marshall Hardy said of his players. “That’s what I was telling them I was proud of them for. Every one of those guys contributed tonight.”
The Cyclones (12-9) meet Ross Robinson (18-3) in tonight’s semifinal at 8. In the earlier semi, top seed Greeneville (16-2) plays Liberty Bell (15-3) at 6:45.

In a losing cause, the Longhorns’ Spencer Stanley and Dakota Wright hit seven points apiece.
Austin Houser totaled five points and eight rebounds for Johnson County (4-11). Daniel Cunningham hauled in nine rebounds, while Wright had five boards and three steals.

Melinda Cretsinger paced the Lady Longhorns with eight points, six rebounds and two steals in a losing effort.
