Johnson County’s middle school baseball team hit the road on Monday, and was nothing short of impressive on the baseball diamond.
Riding the 13-strikeout, three-hit effort of ace Nick Whitener, the Longhorns prevailed over Cloudland 6-1 in Little Watauga Conference action.
“We just haven’t had any rhythm or consistency right now,” Johnson County coach Julian Crews said. “We’ve had a harsh winter in Mountain City, so we’ve had a hard time just getting reps. I think the more we play, the better we’ll get, so we just need some game-time experience right now.”
