Judge orders 8-year sentence in 2011 stabbing

A senior Tennessee judge ordered Joehanathan Castle to serve eight years in jail after he allegedly stabbed another man in the throat and chest nearly one year ago.

The Elizabethton Police Department originally charged Castle with attempted second-degree murder, tampering with evidence and vandalism over $500, accusing him of stabbing David Ledford on Sept. 16, 2011. Earlier this summer, Castle pleaded guilty to lesser charges — aggravated assault and vandalism under $500.

The judge had sentenced Castle to eight years, but at his plea hearing, it was not decided whether he would serve his time in jail or serve probation.
