Judge wants closer look before search warrant ruling

A criminal court judge will take additional time to decide on a motion seeking to suppress evidence recovered in a search that led to a Morristown man’s arrest on drug charges.

On Monday afternoon, Criminal Court Judge Robert Cupp postponed his decision on a motion to suppress evidence recovered in the search of a Hampton home owned by Larry Alan Shockley.

After the search in question – which took place at the house at 601 U.S. Highway 321 on Jan. 2, 2013 – officers with the Carter County Sheriff’s Department and agents with the First Judicial Drug Task Force reported finding “39 live and growing” marijuana plants and equipment “that is needed to maintain a grow operation.”
