Students at Keenburg Elementary School celebrated academic success with a pep rally on Tuesday afternoon.
Principal Jason Hartley said the school made As and Bs in the achievement and growth performance areas of the school’s annual report card.
“We have made As and Bs before on growth, but this is the first time we have scored As and Bs on the achievement part,” he said. “This means that our students at Keenburg are scoring above average when compared to other schools in the state in both actual test scores and the amount of growth every year.”
Carter County Assistant Director of Schools Peggy Campbell was the special guest during the celebration. She addressed the student body during the pep rally and expressed pride in the school’s results on behalf of the Carter County School System.
“We just want to tell all of you how proud we are of you,” Campbell said. “We are proud of Mr. Hartley, the teachers and their assistants and most of all we are proud of you boys and girls. It doesn’t matter how hard Mr. Hartley or your teachers work, it’s what you do.”
