KINGSPORT – After a lethargic start, Milligan College’s women kicked into overdrive and simply overwhelmed Columbia.
The Lady Buffs prevailed 75-56 on Thursday morning in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament quarterfinals at MeadowView Convention Center.
“They’re not a great match-up for us,” Milligan coach Rich Aubrey said. “But I think the biggest key to the game was that we were able to turn the rebounding equation. We got killed on the boards in the first half, and then we out-rebounded them in the second half. I thought that was a big key to the game.”
The top-seeded Buffs (23-8) meet fourth seed Reinhardt (17-14) in today’s semifinals at 2 p.m. Milligan has already qualified for the national tournament.
