Milligan College had it both ways on Saturday afternoon at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse as senior guard Brooke White ruled the perimeter and junior post Allison Jones and senior forward Kayla Kelly dominated inside.
In all, the Lady Buffs bounced back from a tough loss to Bryan College with an 88-65 win over Virginia Intermont on senior night.
Seniors White and Kelly were honored in a postgame ceremony along with Torian Sitton, Scott Blake and Corey Hendren from the men’s team. An added treat was a surprise ceremony for Lady Buffs head coach Rich Aubrey, who earned his 400th victory earlier this month against Truett McConnell.
“To tell you the truth, time has just flown by,” Aubrey said of his 21-year career at Milligan. “I can’t believe it’s been 21 years and that’s probably a good sign. It has been a great honor and privilege to have worked with so many great athletes that have been here, but great human beings as well. Coaching is hard work, but rather than sapping my energy I feel that it has given me energy.”
