By

MURFREESBORO — Hampton faced the tall task of trying to knock off No. 2-ranked Jackson County if it was to reach the Class A state semifinals. It became a giant one with 6-3 center Makenzie Hensley and Kentucky commitment Jaycee Coe playing for the opposition.
Coe fired in 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while Hensley added 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots, allowing the Lady Blue Devils to prevail 58-38 inside of Monte Hale Arena on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

Hampton shot 25 percent for the game (12-of-48 shooting). It was 4-of-23 (17 percent) from behind the three-point line.
