AFTON — A swarming nest of mad hornets couldn’t have been more ill than the Lady Bulldogs were on Friday night.
Playing their hearts out for exiled coach Leon Tolley and current interim Buddy Hazelwood, they ran roughshod past Chuckey-Doak 81-54 before a large gathering of Blue & White followers.
It was Hazelwood’s first game as a girls coach since taking over on Wednesday. And things didn’t look too promising in the early going.
Chuckey-Doak built a 20-9 lead in the first quarter and led 24-16 at the close. But the Lady ’Dogs would go on an 18-2 run and never look back, drawing praising from Hazelwood.
