Lady Cyclones bumped by CPA

MURFREESBORO — Playing inside the Murphy Center became like a like a journey through the desert for Elizabethton on Friday. For a while, the Lady Cyclones got hot — and then they encountered a drought.
For 11 minutes total in the second half, their bucket came up empty— allowing CPA to escape with a 51-47 win in the semifinals of the TSSAA Class AA state tournament held at MTSU.
But it didn’t look promising for the defending Class AA state champions early in the third quarter.
Elizabethton led 26-21 at the half and started the third quarter on a 7-0 run behind five points from senior Reazyn DeMoss. A jumper by freshman Kelci Marosites at the 5:34 mark gave ’Betsy its largest lead of the game at 33-21.
Yet things would change for the worse after that.
