MOUNTAIN CITY — Elizabethton needed just a little something extra on Tuesday night. Unfortunately for the Lady Cyclones, it wasn’t there.
The Orange & Black fell to Johnson County in five sets, 25-21, 24-26, 11-25, 25-21, 11-15.
“We had trouble with consistency tonight,” said EHS coach Leslee Bradley. “We were not fundamentally sound and made too many mental mistakes. We let the second game slip away from us and then let our frustrations take us out of game three. Game four was a gutcheck and we were able to put together a good game, but we just ran out of steam at the end after a tough week of volleyball.”
Ashleigh Dykes posted nine kills and 22 digs for the Lady Cyclones, with Harley McMillan and Julea Trivett adding eight and seven kills, respectively.
Summer Reece accounted for 26 digs and Abbi Pierce 20 assists.
Elizabethton, which entertains Sullivan East tonight, slipped to 2-2 in the Three Rivers Conference and 9-11 overall.
The junior varsity dropped a two-set decision to the Lady Longhorns, 21-25, 18-25.
Not all was lost as the freshmen prevailed 16-25, 25-19 and 15-10.
