CHURCH HILL — In a match that could have easily gone Elizabethton’s way, Volunteer put together a strong finish to win a tough five-setter (25-22, 14-25, 15-25, 26-24, 15-8) over the Lady Cyclones on Tuesday night.
“It was a really well-played match by both teams,” said EHS coach Leslee Bradley. “We had a lot of mental mistakes in game one and just had trouble finding any rythym. In games two and three, we had great energy and communication. Everyone on the court was making plays.
In game four, we were behind the entire game. We were down 21-24 and came back to tie it up, and then lost the next two points. That effort drained us for game five, and we just didn’t have enough in the tank to make it happen.”
