Lady Cyclones handle Unicoi County, 77-41

By

ERWIN — Elizabethton was quick to put the stops on a Lady Devil Cinderella story in the second half.
The No. 3 ranked team in Class AA, Lady Cyclones outscored Unicoi County 23-4 in the third quarter and netted three girls in double figures during a 77-41 Three Rivers Conference win on Monday night during Blue Nation’s senior night.

Elizabethton (20-3, 11-0) was spearheaded by a combined 33 points from Kelci (20) and Kayla Marosties (13) and 12 points from Emily Kiser.

It was a shutdown defensive effort — keyed by Kayla Marosites’ nine steals — that helped the Lady Cyclones pull away, especially in the second half, according to head coach Len Dugger.
