The Bryan College Lady Lions added a new cub to their pride on Wednesday afternoon at Elizabethton High School as Lady Cyclones center fullback Paige Jones signed to play for head coach Mark Sauve’s women’s soccer squad.
Jones, a four year starter at EHS, was at first reluctant about being put on the backline. Cyclones head coach Bill McClay joked that, “She cried when I told her I was putting her at center backline. A few minutes later she tapped me on the shoulder and said she would give it a try.”
The rest is history as Jones became a defensive force for the Cyclones. While she scored just one goal in her prep career, Jones stopped 100 times as many in front of Cyclone goalkeepers over her four years.
