Replacing the leading scorer in Elizabethton High School history will not be a one-person job as the Lady Cyclones soccer team goes into the 2013 season minus Christine Hardin.
It will have to be a “collective effort,” and the fortunate thing is that the Lady Cyclones have a wealth of underclassmen that contributed greatly to the team’s run to the 2012 state tournament.
Last season, sophomores Hannah Adams, Abby Carey and Sarah Robinson played significant roles as starters on the senior-laden squad — and were all productive players. They will be joined by senior Paige Jones, the anchor of the defensive backline, and newcomer to the program, senior Miranda Isaacs.
“We have a lot of new players coming in and we want to give our emotions and our excitement for the season over to them,” Carey said. “We are excited for the new season and hope to carry over from last season. We all like to work together and we have great team chemistry.”
Juniors who should continue to make contributions include Anna Densford and Kianna Watson, who is awaiting an MRI to determine the extent an injured knee.
