Happy Valley needed a Timex-like performance to knock off Elizabethton, but instead took a licking because it never got ticking.”
The Lady Cyclones turned Treadway Gymnasium into a woodshed and spanked Happy Valley 71-33 on Friday by dominating the Three Rivers Conference game from start to finish.
EHS coach Len Dugger was shocked at the margin of victory, but touched on those that played key roles in the win.
“I thought Emily Kiser came in and gave us that third scorer we needed and Sarah Robinson’s contributions were huge, too,” Dugger said. “Our defense, rebounding and the way we defended were the key factors as well.
“We didn’t allow them many second shots and that’s something we talked about wanting to do. Sarah Bradley made some great passes tonight and she’s been sick and out for two days. Tonight she comes back and sacrifices for her team and Melenda Perry did a good job of running the team.”
