KINGSPORT — It was a runaway in every sense of the word.
One minute it was Kayla Marosites, the next it was Emily Kiser. Kayla Marosites would land a big bucket, then an array of Lady Cyclones from Sarah Bradley to Emily Schubert connected.
There was nothing Sullivan South’s girls could do.
Delivering one of its best efforts of the season, Elizabethton (14-3) steamrolled the Lady Rebels with a 78-32 statement in its first Three Rivers Conference game of the new year.
“You couldn’t ask for anything better for 32 minutes tonight,” said Lady Cyclones coach Len Dugger. “The thing about it was they came out ready to play. We shot it well too. It seemed like no matter who I put in there they were doing positive things for us.
“Defensively, I thought tonight, as a team, was our best game. It was effort. It wasn’t necessarily scoring points. It was the way they went about playing defense.”
