A concentrated defensive effort by the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones turned the Richlands (Va.) Lady Blue Tornados into a mere puff of wind on Friday night at Treadway Gym.
EHS forced 27 turnovers and held Richlands to single digit scoring in every period in a 77-26 non-conference thumping.
The Lady Tornados came into the contest shorthanded, with just eight players dressing on varsity, and the situation quickly got worse for Richlands when guard Brittany Allen suffered an injury to her right arm in the second period and was lost for the remainder of the game.
The Cyclones (22-3) raced to an 18-9 first period lead with sophomore guard Emily Kiser dropping in a three-ball along with senior guard Sarah Bradley. Bradley finished with 13 points, seven assists and four steals in a game that saw the Cyclones take the ball away 18 times on steals.
