Lady Highlanders cruise into next round

The Cloudland Lady Highlanders bounced back in style from a disappointing district title-game loss by rolling past Washburn 72-22 in the Region 1-A quarterfinals Friday night at Sonny Smith Gym.
As the racous Friday night crowd at Sonny Smith Gymnasium looked on, the Lady Highlanders dominated the inside and outside of both sides of the floor. The first half was marked by outstanding shooting, post presence, and pressure defense for the Blue & Gold.
While the Highlander defense kept the Lady Pirates scoreless through the first six and a half minutes, and limited to just three points for the entire half, Cloudland attacked the perimeter and paint for 42 points by the break.
