2002-03: Season of great success for Lady Highlanders

Cloudland girls basketball coach Matt Birchfield has made a habit of taking his Lady Highlanders to Murfreesboro in early March for the state tournament, going back-to-back twice.
In 2002-03, Birchfield took a senior-laden squad that had gone the previous season — and made a return trip with arguably his best team ever. That squad finished with a 30-4 mark before falling to Moore County in the opening round.
The starters on that team consisted of point guard Tara Hanson, post Amy Storie along with Nikki Webb, Stacia Johnson and Holly Blair.
