GRAY — Susceptible to an emotional hangover, Unaka came out in intoxicating form.
Starting Friday afternoon’s Area 1-A consolation game with a 19-3 burst, the Lady Jr. Rangers went on to beat Mary Hughes 51-38 at Ridgeview Elementary.
“We could have come out flat after last night and just buried our heads,” said Unaka interim coach Kelly Oliver. “We picked right back up where we finished the game off last night, so I’m real proud of them for not lagging — not having that hangover. We didn’t get out of the dressing room till 10 last night, so it was big of them.”
By getting the job done less than 24 hours after a double-overtime loss to Ridgeview, the Rangers (20-3) put themselves in their first East Sectional.
