It was an impressive Friday afternoon at the ballpark for visiting Unaka.
The Lady Junior Rangers blasted Hampton 17-1 in Little Watauga Conference softball action. Unaka ripped 17 hits, and Madison Pierce was steady in tossing a five-hitter through the seven-inning affair.
“I’m really, really excited about how we played,” Unaka coach James Pearson said. “Our starting pitcher, cleanup hitter, she was out of town on a church trip and we had a sixth-grader step in. Madison Pierce really stepped up and played a good game.
