The Watauga Valley Conference softball crown has returned to Stoney Creek, or at least a share of it.
After decades of owning the Class A league, the Lady Rangers suffered through a sub-par campaign a year ago.
Now Unaka’s girls are back. They whipped Cloudland 13-3 on Thursday at Ronnie Hicks Field.
The Rangers (8-9) and University High are co-champions with 7-1 Watauga Valley marks.
Cloudland (2-12) actually led 3-1 in the third inning after Kelli King’s two-run homer. An explosive fourth, sparked by Brooke Austin’s solo home run, saw the Rangers surge ahead 8-3.
