ELIZABETHTON — Happy Valley’s Brittany Ollis made it official Friday that she would join the Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College golf team for the 2012-13 season.
Ollis joins the TranSouth Athletic Conference school in Pulaski. This past season the RedHawks finished fourth at the conference championship.
The 2011 season was the first for Ollis to play competitive golf for head coach Randy Ross.
“Last year was my first year so I learned everything that you could,” Ollis said. “I just love golf, it’s fun, going there and being able to play and have fun. Get to experience new types of golf courses.”
According to Ross, she improved as the year continued and was averaging 48 to 49 for a nine-hole round. Ollis just missed out on the Region 1-A/AA event as the Lady Warriors finished second in the District 1-A/AA event.
“She’s very much of a bulldog on the course, she is very focused and willing to put the time and work in,” Ross said about his graduating senior. “Best part is high character.”
Ollis is going to a team that loses one senior off Matt Rackley’s squad.
“She’s going to be a big asset to field a good team,” Rackley said.
She plans to major in therapy and minor in missions.
“It means a lot to me,” Ollis said about joining the RedHawks’ roster.
