Lady Warriors overcome Cloudland

Happy Valley scored four times in a sixth inning that finally enabled the team to sew up a non-conference win at Cannon-Gouge Park on Tuesday.
Getting a ball through Cloudland’s defense over the first five was like trying to thread a needle in the dark for the Lady Warriors. Their 5-0 win on senior night wasn’t easily gained over the determined Lady Highlanders. Time after time they hit line-drive outs — eight over the first five innings.
“We finally got a few to start falling there late in the game,” said Happy Valley coach Mike Dorsey. “Everything we hit was right at them, but that’s the way this season has been going. I’m hoping we can come to practice, reload and get ready for Sullivan East on Thursday. But Cloudland sure didn’t miss many of the ones we hit at them. We just had to start trying to score any way we could.”
