Landfill committee hears concerns on the Elk Mills center relocation
The Carter County Landfill Committee heard complaints and concerns Thursday from citizens in the Elk Mills community over the relocation of the Carter County Landfill convenience center.

Larry “Doc” Miller owns the property where the current Elk Mills convenience center is located. He told the committee more money could be saved if the center continues to operate at its current locations with certain renovations.
The landfill has two convenience centers in the county, one in Roan Mountain and one in Elk Mills. The original landfill location is on Landfill Road off of Minton Hollow in Stoney Creek.
