GREENEVILLE — Hampton’s performance at South Greene left little doubt about who the frontrunner is in the Watauga Valley Conference.
Cruising for three quarters, the Bulldogs kicked in the afterburners and outscored the Rebels 28-7 in the final one to win going away 75-48 on Tuesday.
Hampton led 47-41 heading into the final stanza. The Bulldogs’ 20-point outburst in a five-minute span put them up by 24, allowing the reserves to finish out the final three minutes.

Hampton was missing its top two post players due to injuries and its guard play was shaky in the first half. The Lady Bulldogs fell behind 10-5 after one but it got much worse in the second quarter.
South Greene used nine points by Cheyenne Upton and seven more from Alora Ricker to build up a 33-16 halftime advantage.
