Limiting package stores would limit revenues to city

To the editor:

The people of Elizabethton have overwhelmingly voted in liquor stores, which has been long overdue. It will be great to see our tax dollars stay here in Elizabethton instead of going to Johnson City.

But now I hear that some want to limit the number of stores. Why? We didn’t limit the number of restaurants after liquor by the drink passed overwhelmingly, did we? Why do this now? Something smells. Is someone trying to limit stores to have a monopoly or take care of Johnson City? Which is it?

We need all the new business we can get in Elizabethton and keep our money here.

Thank you,

Jody McKinney, Elizabethton
