Local Democratic party chairman attending convention

Last week, the Republican party had its chance to shine. This week, the Democrats take the spotlight at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. For Carter County Democratic Party Chairman Mike Lane, Charlotte is an exciting place to be.

Lane is one of 91 delegates from Tennessee — and the only delegate from Carter County — attending the Convention. In a phone interview Tuesday afternoon with the Elizabethton STAR, Lane said he was enjoying his time at the convention and was looking forward to participating in the different events. He was able to attend the convention as a delegate after being elected as a delegate by the Carter County Democratic Party and the district Democratic Party.
