Marhsall Lane, JC soldier wounded in Afghanistan

By

JOHNSON CITY (AP) — The family of a Johnson City soldier says he has been critically wounded in Afghanistan just as his deployment was over.

Army Pfc. Marshall Lane had been scheduled to return home Wednesday, but his family was told the 23-year-old Lane was shot by members of the Afghan police he had been training.

Lane’s mother-in-law, Michelle Arwood, told the Johnson City Press the soldier was on a ventilator at a German hospital after being shot in the chest and a hand. There was a candlelight vigil for Lane Wednesday night at the New Hope Church of Christ in Johnson City.

Arwood’s daughter, who is Lane’s wife, had gone to Washington, D.C., and Arwood brought the couple’s 13-month-old son to the service.
