McKinney joins race for clerk’s post

Donna Hughes McKinney has joined the race for the Carter County Circuit Court Clerk position on the May Republican Primary ballot.

McKinney has lived in Carter County her whole life, graduating from Elizabethton High School in 1977.

“I love the county and the people in the county,” she said. “My family and all my friends are here. I like close communities where people are there for one another. Here, we are all like family.”

McKinney’s parents are Bob and Roberta Hughes, and she has three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Kim and Larry Eggers, Bobbie Jo and Darrell Hardin and Wendy Mathes.

She is married to Carter Eddie Honeycutt, and has a daughter, Stephanie McKinney.
