Keeping a camp retreat like Doe River Gorge operating smoothly, it takes a dedicated crew of full-time and part-time employees along with dedicated volunteers. Some of these employees are domestic missionaries that rely on community support to help them complete their mission work.
Mark and Nancy Milbourne are one of these domestic mission families. Nancy worked at Doe River Gorge as Director of Guest Services from 1996-2000 and now returns on temporary basis if needed. Mark has worked at the camp since 1997 and is Director of Technical Services.
Their journey to Doe River Gorge started in 1995 when Mark left his job in Pennsylvania at DuPont as a systems analyst to attend classes at Moody Aviation in Elizabethton. Mark explained that they had felt the calling to go into a full-time ministry and believed that the aviation field was where they were meant to be.
